A man was shot and robbed of cash outside a bank at a shopping centre in Umhlanga Ridge, north of Durban, on Tuesday.

At 15:34, Netcare 911, along with other emergency services, responded to a robbery, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.

"Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male had sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm. It was alleged that the victim was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money."

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital with private transport and the scene was secured by the authorities.
